There has been continued interest in den-building in the garden and the children have been using the wood they watched the tree surgeon cut down to construct with. An exploration of real tools such as hammers, saws and glue guns has also been supported by children using the off cuts of the tree to creative effect! Many children are now able to use the real tools safely and effectively.
Children have also been discussing children around the world today as we fundraise for Red Nose Day by donating money and wearing our pyjamas to school. There is a clear development of the children's understanding of people less fortunate than themselves: children commented "Some children have no toys like us", "I want to buy them taps", "My mum is fundraising for a new roof for a school" and "They might not have food". Children were supported in understanding they have the power to change things and can help others.
