There has been a great deal of learning taking place in the nursery. Children have been continuing designing and making photo frames; they look absolutely wonderful (see below). We will be having a summer exhibition to celebrate our art work on the 4th of July from 3.15pm to 4.00pm; hope to see you all there!
THe children have been involved in a wide range of learning including the following: developing their understanding of poetry by creating poems based on their fabulous experience of transporting and ultimately eating a very large watermelon! Additionally children have been involved in using their knowledge and skills in operating a digital camera by taking images within the nursery, as well as designing and making photo-frames; (have a look at some of the images the children have taken below). Do go in Sunflower room and look at the children's wonderful frames! Some children have also been developing their writing through role playing the theme of a 'post office'. This has provided children with opportunities for not only writing and spelling some words phonetically, but also talking about either countries the children have visited or indeed countries where their parents come from. Furthermore, some children have been involved in developing their climbing and balancing skills; as well as exploring ways of printing using paint with eit their feet or hands! Of course the children have also had the wonderful experience of observing the hatching of a number of chicks this week! Such experiences are wonderful in developing children's curiosity, observational skills as well as fostering the important quality of caring for living things.
Welcome to our new website. Every week I will aim to write a brief summary of the learning and indeed any other specific information that may be useful to both our parents/children as well as the local community. Copies of the medium term planning are available from the office. Don’t forget our summer fete is on Friday 28th June! If you are able to help please see Kim.
