Rachel Keeling International Evening 2017

24/2/2017

Our beautiful school community came out in force this week to celebrate our annual International Evening. This special event celebrates the food, music, clothes, languages and joy of our diverse local family. We were treated to the wonderful Morpeth Secondary School brass band and Salsa Band, Pulse. Delicious donations of food were sold, raising £355 for our children's Mud Village in the garden. Wonderful hats, face paints and letters were written with families sharing the impact of the school on their lives (these will follow in a separate post) and some Somali parents drummed, sang and danced with families and staff until home time.
Our Rachel Keeling values shone through and to top it all we were presented with the wonderful scan picture of a new baby who will come to Rachel Keeling one day (although he is only 20 weeks at the moment!) Thank you all.

Rachel Keeling's Spirit Lives On

10/2/2017

Rachel Keeling Nursery School is named after prominent East End Suffragette Rachel Keeling. Rachel Keeling later became a Councillor in Bethnal Green and lived to see the opening of our wonderful school in 1962. This week our families, staff and friends have come together to reflect on what makes our school unique, special and distinct: the rich learning experiences on offer each day, the rapid progress our children make, the wonderful community we serve and the spirit of each and every one of us. We are facing challenging financial times and realise we must pull together to ensure generations to come continue to get the absolute best start to their education. Our highly trained and skilled staff team are committed to this community and their passion has passed onto the children: "Rachel Keeling is strong" Aasiyah said; "It's an emergency" said Camille; "We need more money to buy toys because when we play we learn" Anouk volunteered; Seanan thought "Dino Cheetah could come and get the baddies".
Councillor Rabina Khan visited and saw what the school has to offer our local community and professionals further afield. We are holding Rachel Keeling Action Week 20-24 February where we will be celebrating our achievements and capturing them to share.
please look at our film made with the children in the film section of our website, follow us on Twitter @RachelKeeling N1 and sign the petition https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/171052
Join us at 3pm on Wednesday 22 February for our RACHEL KEELING INTERNATIONAL EVENING.
