We were delighted to celebrate another collection of our children's creative work. Families and friends joined us to appreciate the pieces which were based on shape, space and measure. Many children worked collaboratively and some individually to produce screen-prints, embroidery, embellished tiles and a range of breads. The ice hangings proved popular and much discussion was prompted with their disappearance. Children showed a real pride in their work and were able to talk about the process involved. Maybe one day we will see some of their pieces in Whitechapel Gallery!
At Rachel Keeling we have been fortunate enough to work alongside Jane, from Bow Arts Trust in preparation for our Annual Summer Art Exhibition. The children and staff have all been engaged in a range of pieces related to the theme Shape, Space and Measure. Although the work has been process-based and not focused on an end product, some incredible pieces have been created. Some children have worked independently but most worked collaboratively as co-creators of exhibits. Some beautiful photographs of our exhibition will follow shortly. Across the Nursery we have been thinking about shape, space and measure: tessellating tiles, creating pretzels, ice sculptures and screen printing are just a few of the experiences we have explored.
