Early Years Pupil Premium

Accountability
The Government believes that head teachers and school leaders should decide how to use the Pupil Premium. They are held accountable for the decisions they make through:
  • the performance tables which show the performance of disadvantaged pupils compared with their peers
  • the Ofsted inspection framework, under which inspectors focus on the attainment of pupil groups, in particular those who attract the Pupil Premium
  • the reports for parents that schools now have to publish online
  • Each half-term we review the children who are in receipt of pupil premium to ensure that their learning is supported and that they are making rapid progress. We measure the impact of all interventions.
What is Early Years Pupil Premium used for at Rachel Keeling
This extra funding allows the school to provide additional staff and resources, bringing learning benefits to eligible pupils as well as all children throughout the school. It is also used to subsidise enrichment activities and school trips.

Who is entitled to Early Years Pupil Premium?
If you receive any of the following benefits, the school may be able to claim Pupil Premium funding for your child:
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided they’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit but there is a cap)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on, which is paid for 4 weeks after they stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit
Children who are currently being looked after by a local authority in England or Wales or hey have left care in England or Wales through:
  • an adoption
  • a special guardianship order
  • a child arrangement order are also eligible for Early Years pupil premium.
What should I do if my child is eligible for Early Years Pupil Premium?
Please contact the school office as soon as possible if you think your child may be eligible for Early Years Pupil Premium. We can then apply for the extra funding. If you have already provided us with information in the past, we may contact you to check if you are still eligible.
How the information in the form will be used
We will share this form with the local authority if we feel your child will be eligible. The information on this form will be used by the council to confirm receipt of one of the listed welfare benefits. You only need to fill in this form once and it will last for the duration of your child’s time at our school.

We will use the information you provide to assess entitlement to the Early years Pupil Premium. The information will be shared with other council departments to offer benefits and services.

How do we spend the Early Years Pupil Premium?

We use this money in a variety of ways to impact the learning of this group of children at school and beyond: Embedded Forest School provision,  Language Trips, Language Groups, Design Project, Cooking Project, Animation and Story Groups as well as part funding some wonderful enrichment experiences such as Step Out Arts and Iroko Drummers.
Year on year, our leaver's data demonstrated children in receipt of EYPP funding make rapid and sustained progress.
Our leaver's data for July 2024 showed that children in receipt of EYPP made similar levels of progress as their non-EYPP counterparts.
  • On entry, 100% of EYPP children entered nursery below, and some, well below expected areas of development.
  • On exit, 92% of EYPP children were at expected or exceeding expected levels of development.
  • Most EYPP children left at expected levels of development (30-50 months secure) and some exceeding (40-60+ months emerging and within).
