What Do Governors Do?
The role of governors
Rachel Keeling Nursery School is an outstanding school (Ofsted 2018). We support the school in working to maintain these standards and also in helping the school to further improve pupils’ achievement throughout their time at the school.
The Governors contribute to and share the school’s vision that children should be at the heart of each decision made and make sure this is always discussed when looking at new proposals or analysing the children’s progress.
We help the school maintain its success by carrying out the following tasks on at least a termly basis:-

We help the school maintain its success by carrying out the following tasks on at least a termly basis:-
- Monitor the school’s progress against the School Development Plan which focuses on the areas the school could develop to help pupils progress.
- Discuss and agree policies relating to the curriculum to make sure the curriculum is balanced and broadly based
- Agree the school budget profile at the beginning of the Financial Year and then monitors how the school is spending the money throughout the year
- Visit the school to see how the school works within the curriculum and implements its policies
How do you know we are doing our job?
Governors produce an annual statement and are regularly available in and around school to discuss issues. Please check the Governor board inside the entrance and attendance is monitored and published. In addition, OFSTED will consider and report on the strength of the Governing Body during an inspection. |
How can you help?
Rachel Keeling Nursery School often directly asks parents/carers and children for their feedback on the current provision and policies and also asks for ideas on ways the school could improve. Your feedback is welcomed at any time though so please do not hesitate to talk to any of the governors or Becky directly. Your input helps inform decisions taken by the Committees and Governing Body as a whole. |
