Environment impacts behaviour and we are always reflecting on making our Nursery environment as conductive to learning as possible and sparking a passion for learning. The addition of a beautiful colour-changing light box in the cosy corner in one classroom as well as the sensitive interactions of an experienced practitioner resulted in children developing skills in story telling, writing and drawing. Our children are always keen to write and it is our job to ensure the writing and drawing they are doing is meaningful for the children. The calming atmosphere created by dimming the lights, working on the floor and low tables supported children in listening to each other and drawing and writing as they talked in a relaxed nature.
Happy New Year! We are preparing ourselves mentally and physically as we look forward to another year of learning and inspiration in school. As well as our sensitive practitioners, our environment is key to ensuring our children are best placed to learn and develop their knowledge and skills. Children have been supporting Glenn (our Premises Manager) in checking the lighting, heating and equipment before our new children start next week. This has helped children coming back after what can seem like a long time away from school to settle and feel connected. Ensuring all our children are held in mind by a practitioner is vital in developing attachment and independence.
