This week has been particularly exciting and engaging for our children. A group of children took all the wonderful food items donated by children and families to Rochester Court; a local residential home for the elderly. Such experiences are important as they enhance children's understanding about helping and caring for others.
Also this week we had the fabulous Iroko drummers in where they extended the children's learning through learning about rhythm, listening and responding, as well as developing an understanding about different cultures and of course a love for music! Have a wonderful week and see you all on Monday the 3rd of November! A warm welcome to all our children and families who started nursery this week. Thanks to all our families who attending the dental workshop this week; really pleased we had such a great response. Our thanks to all the families who contributed lots of lovely dishes to make our Eid party such a success! The children have been involved in a range of learning experiences including learning to play our African drums, as well as engaged in following instructions to make some play dough. Additionally children have also been developing their throwing and catching skills, which not only supports hand eye co-ordination but also the development of muscles to support writing!
Please remember the school will be closed on Friday 24th of October for staff training. Have a lovely weekend! A very warm welcome to all our children and families who have started at Rachel Keeling this week. The week has been filled with an extensive range of learning experiences. A number of children have been developing their understanding about different cultures and festivals, for example children have been involved in learning about Eid, including the customs of prayer as well as looking at different types of script such as Arabic writing. Additionally, as part of our work on Black History we have been looking at different types of foods and we were very pleased that Safiyah's Mum came in to do some cooking with the children; see the pictures below. We have also had some children learning about Autumn, which has involved children visiting the local park, collecting leaves, looking at bark, as well as hugging a large oak tree!
Please note the school will not be closed on Tuesday 14th October as the Unison strike has now been suspended. Have a lovely weekend! A very warm welcome to all the children and families who started at Rachel Keeling Nursery School during the week commencing the 29th September. Our huge thanks to all the families and children who contributed to our very successful fund raising event for MacMillan Cancer Research. We raised: £203.26p. Well done everyone! We will be having an Eid Party on Friday 10th October at 2.30pm. If you would like to bring in some food please see Nazma. Best wishes Ben |
